Frequently Asked Questions

Pool and spa Maintenance

  • How often should my pool be serviced?

We recommend weekly pool service to maintain balanced water chemistry, prevent algae growth, and ensure your pool stays clean and safe.

  • What does regular pool service include?

Our services vary based on the tier you choose:

    • Basic: Chemical balancing only.
    • Elite: Chemical balancing and basket cleaning.
    • Elite Plus: Full-service maintenance, including skimming, and brushing

*Equipment inspection included in all three tiers

  • Why is balancing pool water chemistry important?

Proper water chemistry prevents algae, protects pool surfaces and equipment from damage, and ensures the water is safe for swimmers.

  • Can I clean and maintain my pool myself?

While basic upkeep like skimming is manageable, professional maintenance ensures water chemistry is precise, equipment is functioning properly, and potential issues are addressed before they become costly repairs.

Solar Panel Cleaning

  • How often should solar panels be cleaned?

Several factors can influence the frequency of solar panel cleaning, such as the amount of dust, dirt, pollen, bird droppings, and other debris in your area. Generally, it’s recommended to clean your solar panels at least once per year. However, for optimal performance—especially in areas with high dust levels, frequent rain, or tree coverage—it’s advisable to clean them twice a year. This ensures they operate at peak efficiency and extend their lifespan.

  • Does the Rain Clean My Solar Panels?

Rain can help rinse off loose dust and debris from your solar panels, but it doesn’t provide a thorough cleaning. Similar to how rain doesn’t fully clean your car, it often leaves behind dirt, pollen, bird droppings, and other residues that accumulate over time. Additionally, rainwater contains minerals and impurities that can leave spots and streaks on the panels, which can reduce their efficiency.

For optimal energy production, it’s important to have your solar panels professionally cleaned. We use a specialized process with ultra-pure water and soft brushes to remove all contaminants safely and effectively, ensuring your panels operate at peak performance.

  • What is DI Water, and Why Should I Use It to Clean My Solar Panels?

DI water, or deionized water, is water purified to 0-20 ppm hardness, free of minerals like calcium and magnesium that cause water hardness. When hard water (water straight from your spout) is used to clean your panels, the calcium and magnesium can leave deposits on the glass over time, leading to staining and reducing the panels' efficiency.

At Elite Pool Service, we go a step further by using a 4-stage RO/DI (Reverse Osmosis/Deionization) filtration system. This advanced system not only removes calcium and magnesium but also eliminates other impurities, producing ultra-pure water. This ensures no spots, streaks, or residue are left on your panels, maximizing their energy production and longevity.

Additionally, most manufacturers recommend using DI water for cleaning solar panels to maintain their warranty and optimal performance, which is why we strictly adhere to this standard.

  • Can I Clean My Solar Panels Myself?

While you can use a hose and brush, DIY cleaning comes with risks:

    • Safety: Working on roofs can be dangerous without proper equipment.
    • Damage: Abrasive tools or high-pressure water can harm your panels.
    • Effectiveness: Tough grime often requires professional tools.
    • Warranty: Improper cleaning may void warranties.
